The RRISCC November meeting is scheduled to be held at Gordon Robinson’s home on Monday the 12th at 7:30 pm. Lawrence Creatura, having recently returned from a successful climb of the Carstensz Pyramid in faraway Irian Jaya, will share his adventures. “The entire spine of this large island is mountainous and, despite thick jungles, tangled foothills and political problems, several expeditions have climbed here in recent years.” [from John Cleare’s book Mountaineering] Carstensz is 16,532 ft, no walk up!
Please note: our fiscal year runs from September through August of the next year, so, if you intend to become a 2001-2002 member and be listed on the club’s web member page, you should pay the dues by the end of November. On December 1st, I will remove all people listed there who have not paid the annual $10 dues. Slip Henry Hamlin, our treasurer, the money at the next couple of meetings. Better, send a check right now to Henry and make it out to Rochester Rock, Ice & Snow Climbing Club. Henry’s address is on the members’ web page and under the link “about RRISCC”.
Gordon’s house is at 144 Park Rd., Pittsford, NY. Directions to his home:
From Route 490 East of Rochester, take the Bushnell’s Basin exit. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto the Pittsford-Victor Road (Route 96). After 0.7 miles turn right onto Park Road at the Powdermill Park sign. Drive 0.3 miles and turn left onto a private road at the “Mushroom House” (if you pass the fish hatchery, you’ve gone too far). Take the private road up the hill to the circle. He is down the first drive from the left. Park in his drive, around the circle, or in the fish hatchery parking lot.
Hope you can make the gathering. See you there.
