The RRISCC January meeting is scheduled to be held on the 14th. The host will be Rob Schiesser at his parent place located in Webster. The meeting will start at 7:30 pm. Further details will be supplied later.
Erik Grimm will be sharing his pc images of a unique and grueling ski race in Greenland. Here is a brief description of that race as supplied by Erik:
The Arctic Circle Race is a 3 day 160km race starting and finishing in
Sissimut, Greenland. We raced classic technique 50+ km each day across
frozen fjords and through mountain passes. After days 1 and 2 we spent the
nights at a remote camp sleeping in tents and eating in a common mess tent
for all the racers and local race organizers. We were required to carry
essential survival gear in case of emergency conditions, however our food,
sleeping bags and the majority of our gear was transported to the camp via
dog sled.
This portends to be a singular and exciting outdoor adventure and the first time this club has featured a skiing race. Do come and invite others that have an interest along this line.
Directions to Rob’s place at 458 Weidel road:
If coming from the city, take route 104 east across the bay bridge. Exit at first exit past the bay on to Bay road going north.
Take Bay road for about 2 miles and then turn right onto Weidel Rd. Weidel is the first right after Klem road. Their house is the second house on the left. Call 787-0284 if you need further assistance.
Hope you can make this event. Come prepared for anything or come unprepared and just relax and socialize.
