April 2005 Meeting
We plan to meet at the home of Henry and Nancy Hamlin on April 11th at 7:30 pm. New to RRISCC, Jeanne Hinkelman will show pictures of her climb of Mt. Scott, which is located in the southwestern part of Oklahoma in the Wichita Mountains and is the second highest peak in the state. She also will share her rock climbing experiences (fundamentals course) with The Climbing School organization (Tulsa, OK) run by veteran climber John Pleasant. Leo Linder, also a newcomer, will present his recent ice climbing ventures in Lee Vining Canyon outside Yosemite two weeks ago and ice climbing in the Palisades in November. If we twist his arm enough, perhaps he’ll also show some photos of his sport climbing routes in El Portrero Chico, Mexico. Also, Henry Hamlin has a Geoff Tabin video to share of the Himalayan Medical Foundation and another one of an interview with Charlie Houston. So, it’ll be a packed-full evening. Their home is at 1490 East Av. located in The Crescent, Rochester, NY
This is a semi-circle of townhouses located on the north side of East Avenue between Culver Road and Winton Road. Right next door to Valley Manor and almost directly across the street from the Academy of Medicine. Each unit has its own number (they are 1490) and they are one to the left of dead center. Park in the circle. The Crescent is marked by a pair of brick pillars–enter between them and go around the circle.
We will discuss the future of the club and its meetings, so please make an effort to be on hand.
Those who wish to join RRISCC officially by paying the annual dues amount of $10.00 can do so for the upcoming fiscal year September 1, 2005 through August 31, 2006 by giving cash to, or sending a check to, Henry Hamlin. His address can be found here. The advantages are that dues-paying members are entitled to a 10-15% discount at area outdoor stores, such as Snow Country, EMS and Get Out and Stay Out. Also, dues-paying members can borrow the library materials belonging to the club and Stu Milligan listed here. A membership card will be mailed to you.
