The RRISCC October meeting is scheduled to be held at Peter Bushnell’s house on the 14th at 7:30 pm. That is a Monday night. Pete and two eagle scout friends, Harry Sauerhafer and Paul Sickles, flew to Katmandu, then on to Lukla, Nepal where they began their trek following the infamous river, the Dudh Kosi up to the Khumbu glacier and into Gorak Shep and on to the Mt. Everest basecamp. This will be a slide show of quality pictures lasting about 40 minutes to an hour. Afterwards, they flew on to Singapore and will include a few slides from there. So, if the Himalayas are among your favs, this one is for you! They made this trekking expedition in October of 1999.
Since dues were scheduled for collection during the September meeting, that’ll carry over to the October meeting. Also, the member list posted on a sub-page of our home page will not be purged of non-dues-paying persons until the end of November.
Location
Pete lives at 198 Dickinson Rd. in Webster. Here are directions:
Take I-590N and cross over the Bay bridge, then exit right onto Bay Rd. Take a left onto Volk Rd. (next to white and blue store ) and go to the end and take a right onto DeWitt Rd. At about a 1/2 mile you will see DeWitt school on the right and Woodruff St. on the left. Turn left onto Woodruff, and at the end, turn left onto Dickinson Rd. Come around the bend in the road and down a small hill and look up to your right. He lives up a steep driveway (where else would a hiker live ?). Look for a sign on the light pole.
Trust you’ll be interested in this and make a real effort to be on hand.
